Gotha / Germany

Duewag GT6 No. 396 celebrated its 50th Birthday in 2012.
And 2012 is the last year of its existence as it is no longer needed and has run out of a valid general inspection.
In April 2012, tram-fans from all over Germany said Goodbye to No. 396 by taking it out for one last ride.
A few days later, 396 was taken out of service and will be scrapped shortly.

Depicted is No. 396 on its very last ride to Tabarz in the Thuringian Forest.

Yes, a lot of used Duewags went to Cracow. Not this special type of Duewag but the design is very similar.

They run usually around Nowa Huta, I got to admit they look good around there :)

nobody stepped forward to preserve it? Kind of shameful

You cannot preserve every unit. No. 442 is still in service and it will be that way for several more years.
So hope remains that at least one GT6-unit will be preserved.
